We do the work we write about.
ClearNrth isn't an advisory brand built on frameworks pulled off a shelf. It's a practice built on live work, real board experience, and enough scars from businesses that weren't ready for a CFO to know exactly what readiness actually looks like.
We're led by an FCA qualified CFO with 20+ years of experience in industry and 10+ years in the boardroom: leading businesses through private-to-private-equity sales, running large fundraises, heading up major due diligence processes, and delivering the post-acquisition integration that actually makes a deal pay off.
That includes building a finance function from 1 person to 15, ahead of a sale to mid-market private equity, then being promoted from CFO to CEO after the sale, giving us a rare, lived view of the business from the CEO's seat, not just the finance function's. Add time inside listed environments, and significant restructures along the way, and the pattern becomes hard to miss.
ClearNrth exists because that combination, real deal experience, boardroom time, and having actually sat in the CEO's chair, is harder to find than it should be. Most fractional CFO offers are generalist, and most get called in before anyone's checked whether the business is ready for them. We check first. That's what the Readiness Review is for.
"The best finance function is the one the CEO stops thinking about, because it's already handled."ClearNrth
Where the experience comes from
Not a single case study from a decade ago. A working knowledge of what different stages of business actually need.
Sale, diligence, and integration
Led a business through a private-to-private-equity sale, run large fundraises, headed up major due diligence processes, and delivered the post-acquisition integration that decides whether a deal actually creates value.
Built for scale, internationally
Opened and operated entities overseas, from the US to Australia and a number of countries in between, migrating onto new ERPs, introducing reporting tools like Power BI, and rebuilding internal reports and board packs so the management team could keep score.
Sector breadth, one recurring theme
Worked across retail, hospitality, and professional services, and seen the same pattern regardless of sector: the business is outgrowing its finance team, and finance needs to be an enabler of the next phase of growth, not a quick fix bolted on and hoped for.
Who the Review is for
ClearNrth is deliberately not for everyone. It works best in a specific set of situations.
Growing past instinct
The business has outgrown the founder running the numbers themselves, but that's no longer enough, and you know it.
PE knocking, or planning to raise
You're structuring, raising, or fielding interest, and need someone fluent in the mechanics on your side of the table.
A capable team that's plateaued
Your finance team has taken you this far. The question isn't whether to replace them, it's what actually gets you to the next stage.
If that sounds like where you are
The first conversation is confidential, and it's not a sales pitch. We'll tell you directly whether the Review, or anything else, is the right fit.
